Friendly staff, good chicken and great fries, but I have the feeling that the portions have been reduced lately. I've gone to this place 5 times in the last year (last time in January) and I could never finished the hungry man dinner (leaving almost half for next day) . Today has been an exception. I can't remember the size of the chicken pieces, but I'm sure there were more fries the previous times. I'll probably go back because I like it, but I'm a bit disappointed.
There's a reason why they have been in business now for over 60 years. A staple in Calgary and must try for all visitors to the city!!! Was there for their 60th anniversary celebration and they always put together orders with care and attention no matter how slammed they get. One customers credit card wasn't working with the machine and the owner bought them their meal. A+++
3.5 stars! I went here for their 60th anniversary. The staff are very friendly! A man in a wheelchair couldn't access the restaurant so they gave him a coupon for 60% off on a less busier day.However, I'm all about flavour.The fried chicken is quite literally.. fried chicken. Seasoned with just salt and pepper and fried until they're the perfect temperature. It's rather plain in the flavour department but the meat is surprisingly moist. Ordered 24 pieces of chicken and there was a lot of white meat if that's your thing. Just note that their spicy pepper flavour is not hot at all. Oh and it's not oily like KFC either. Just good old fried chicken with crispy skin.
I don't know why people are saying the chicken is juicy. Maybe it's cause I ordered the chicken strips but they were so DRY! See photo! And the coleslaw had no flavour and barely any dressing. The fries were overcooked. They are hard. And the fritter was overcooked too. I had a few bites out of everything in the box and had to throw it all out. Only came here cause someone recommended it.
This was the first visit back here in 28 years..and it hasn't changed. Chicken is good and consistent with a light textured fritter on the side. Some things don't change and that's good.
